We have registered our travel plans with the US Department of State STEP. As many of you know, we tried
to visit Egypt a couple of years ago but the Department of State would not guarantee that they would be of
any assistance to us if we made the trip. We would be doing so at our own risk, and they highly recommended
against that.... So we cancelled.
This year, we feel that the situation is far safer and are taking extra precautions that include partnering with
a local Egyptian tour company, Memphis Tours, that specializes in private tours with private guides and cars
for the site seeing. We will be visiting Giza, Memphis, Sakkara, Cairo, Abu Simbel, Aswan, Kom Ombo, Edfu,
Luxor and Hurghada on the Red Sea.
We will not be visiting the Sinai Peninsula which is where the Russian flight took off from.
In terms of flights, we will be flying in and out of Cairo from Dubai on Emirates and then within Egypt on Egypt Air.
This will hopefully keep us out of the cross hairs of any terrorist acts against airplanes.
Whew Dog will do its best to post pictures and videos of our adventure along with commentary of the events
along the way, the accommodations, the sites and the culture. We will do our best to be good tourists and representatives
from the United States of America.
Also unlike many of our previous adventures, we will be doing the Luxury tour so please be prepared to see
some decadence. Perhaps you will see something that will tickle you to try an adventure like this yourself one day.
Whew Dog hopes so and is happy to assist you in your future plans! |
