Key Largo and Key West

Last week's adventure took us to the Florida Keys via Fort Lauderdale.  Highlights of Key largo included scuba diving around French Reef, visiting the locals' pub "Sharkey's" on the Canal, getting to pet a Ball Python, seeing a woman with the longest hair I have ever seen, Terry enjoying a Florida IPA and breakfast on the balcony of our hotel room at the Key West Inn.

Then it was off to Key West!  Terry fed the Tarpon on the way at Robbie's - see this link: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=793405344007517

Then to the Southern Most Point in the United States of America before checking into our awesome little resort, The Cabana Inn.  Then off to Happy Hour Oysters at the Half Shell Raw Bar on the marina before pub crawling the rest of the night.

Before leaving this little slice of paradise, I took a swim in the well heated pool and soaked in the hot tub.
Then it was 4 hours North on Hwy 1 and the Turnpike back to FLL for our return flight home.  If you have never been to the Florida Keys, it is a fun adventure that you can do in just a matter of days.

2014 First Whew Dog Adventure to San Diego on Alaska Airlines

One reason Whew Dog gets around so much is that we love being Alaska Airlines VIP Gold Mileage Plan Members.  That takes 40,000 flight miles per year to achieve the benefits of being Gold.  To get this year's miles started, I took a quick trip down to San Diego and back to Seattle on Wednesday.  I know this sounds silly to most people, but believe it or not, I am not the only Gold doing this.  Alaska Airlines is also offering a wonderful deal this year until the end of May to let Mileage Plan members get double the miles for some specific routes on the West Coast.  SEA-SAN is one of those routes and if you do your homework, it is quite reasonably priced.

So on with the Adventure, I was upgraded on the way down which was very nice.  As I was sitting through the announcements and door closure, I noticed that the new FCC regulations for electronics was being respected as we were never asked to turn off our electronics but to only place them in Airplane Mode.  Nice!

San Diego's Airport is just completing a facelift.  I have attached some of the interesting artwork below, along with Wednesday's picks for the local IPA at SAN's Alaska Airlines Gate Bar and of course the flight home's complimentary beverage for being Gold.

Today, we are off to the Florida Keys!  I am actually posting this from 35,000 feet with inflight wireless from GoGo.
